How To Remove and Replace a BMW Hood or Trunk Roundel Emblem
Park your BMW in a well-lit area and on level ground. Turn the engine off and set the parking brake - safety first. Gather the tools and materials needed for this procedure.
Gently slide the credit card under the edge of the hood or trunk BMW roundel / emblem. This serves to protect the hood or trunk finish while removing the emblem.
Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry off the old emblem. You may find that painting 3-in-1 tool works very well for this process. It is sharply tapered yet has the strength to pry against. If you plan on reusing the old emblem, cover the tip of the screwdriver or 3-in-1 tool with the hand towel to protect the roundel / emblem as you pry to remove it. Slide a flat-head screwdriver or 3-in-1 tool under the emblem but over the credit card. Push the tool in as far as it can fit. You may need to gently tap the screwdriver or 3-in-1 tool into place.
Pry up on the emblem carefully. As the emblem begins to pull up push the driver in closer to the center of the roundel. Continue to pry up until the emblem pops up off the car.
If the two rubber grommets came out with the roundel, you can skip this step. If they were left behind in the metal mount, remove them with a pair of pliers. You will need these to install your new emblem if it does not come with them. Clean the contact area of the metal mount thoroughly with soap and water.
Attach the rubber grommets to the new hood or trunk emblem. BMW hood emblems have two mounting pins that the grommets attach to. Place the new hood emblem into the metal mount and press the roundel into place with firm pressure with the palm of your hand.
